Zwischen: Arno Schmidt

Excerpt from Jan Jelinek’s Zwischen, which does not appear in either the final radio work or the album (same title).

Arno Schmidt: Das steinerne Herz, 1986

Jan Jelinek: Mr Schmidt, you live here on the outskirts of a small village at the Lüneburger Heide. You rarely leave this village. You are also reluctant to let visitors get close to you  (I can vouch for that). You live almost like a hermit. Why?, 2017

Singing Pier in Okayama

Astonishingly free chants of a metal bridge at a floating jetty in Okayama Harbour. Believe it or not: the recording is an unedited, uncut take, captured using one stereo microphone.

Machines behind doors (IV)

Fourth episode in the series of field recordings of not publicly accessible / not visible machinery. Probably an electricity generator, which is hidden behind the small steel door in the old town of Jodhpur (Blue City)? The recording was made in a narrow alleyway - using two different audio recorders / mircophones - and has not been processed.
